Jan Cihlar
Clean Energy Advisor
As a Clean Energy Advisor, I specialize in helping commercial and industrial energy users execute their renewable energy procurement strategy, utilizing both onsite and offsite solutions such as PPAs. My professional background includes management and energy consultancy roles at Guidehouse and mentoring various clean energy start-ups at Rockstart. I possess expertise in building corporate decarbonization and energy strategies and conducting techno-economic analyses. Specifically, I specialize in energy system transition scenarios, decarbonization roadmaps for heavy industry (including cement, steel, and chemicals) and natural gas networks (including biomethane and hydrogen), and both voluntary and regulated carbon markets.
In 2022, I was the project manager for the Gas for Climate program and have also led assignments supporting the European Commission in developing the EU Hydrogen strategy, the Delegated Act for Article 27 of the RED II (RFNBO production rules), and the Impact Assessment for the Hydrogen and Decarbonized Gas Market Package. Additionally, I have mentored start-ups active in various areas, such as hydrogen, biochar, electricity storage, and e-mobility.
I am based in Utrecht, Netherlands.
