Alfonso Bayona Giménez, Partner, Bird & Bird

Alfonso is a dedicated and sector-focused lawyer with a wide experience in international corporate transactions within the Energy & Utilities and infrastructure sectors.

Alfonso specialises in energy law, natural resources and infrastructure, advising on corporate, contractual and financial matters.  His expertise includes advising on project financing, implementation of corporate restructuring transaction, commercial litigation and drafting and negotiation of contracts within the aforementioned sectors.

Alfonso has been focused in the negotiation of a significant number of power purchase agreements (PPA), either physical PPAs or Virtual PPAs, both from the seller and the buyer side. He has gained a significant experience in the PPA Spanish market and has worked in the world largest sector PPAs, including the largest PPA for the petrochemical industry and the largest PPA in the packaging sector.

Through his professional career, Alfonso has gained a broad experience – both in-house and in private practice – in innovative transactions, helping clients to structure complex deals affecting multiple jurisdictions and stressed financial situations. Such a wide experience, coupled with his understanding of internal company needs, enables him to deliver value-added and sophisticated services to clients.

Additionally, Alfonso is a frequent speaker and teacher in various seminars and training programmes, including energy focused seminars.

Joop Hazenberg, Policy & Impact Director, RE-Source

Joop Hazenberg is the Policy and Impact Director of the RE-Source Platform. He has been working and living in Brussels since 2013, specialising in Europe’s energy and climate policies. Amongst others, he was EU correspondent for a range of international media, campaign manager for NGOs on the phase-out of coal power plants, and Director External Affairs at the GSMA, representing the mobile telecommunications industry in Europe.

Before moving to Brussels, Joop Hazenberg worked in political circles in his home country The Netherlands. He had several functions in the Dutch Parliament, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a national newspaper. He also founded a think-tank for young professionals, wrote six books (the latest on climate change) and many op-eds and essays on (international) politics.

 

Fanni Denke, Business Development Manager, FlexiDAO

As the Business Development Manager Fanni leverages her wealth of knowledge to assist in product strategy to adapt FlexiDAO’s offerings to each client’s needs, ensuring a smooth and impactful transition to clean energy.

She has over 5 years of experience at Schneider Electric as Client Energy Manager, where she was responsible for helping clients incorporate renewable solutions to integrate sustainability approaches to bolster their energy strategies.

Roberto Pizzini, Head of PPA Origination, Galileo

As Head of PPA Origination at Galileo, Roberto coordinates the activities related to sale of electricity from the company’s wind and solar projects to corporate clients and in merchant markets.

Roberto has more than 10 years of experience with energy markets and held various commercial positions in trading and renewable energy procurement at Statkraft and Amazon. His main focus and expertise are on the valuation and negotiation of Power Purchase Agreements, to ensure that projects secure adequate financial returns, and that the agreements provide a fair alignment of interests between the parties and a solid backbone for project financing.

Corina Melchor, Clean Energy Advisor, Altenex Energy

As the Clean Energy Advisor for European Energy Advisory, Corina manages client relationships by bringing insights to life across our customer’s decarbonization journey. Her role is to understand the implications and interdependencies (risk, collateral, etc) that lie in a PPA acquisition and ensure that Altenex Energy’s tailored solutions meet their sustainability, financial, and strategic goals.

Prior to joining Altenex Energy, Corina led the Power and Utilities SME team for Boston Consulting Group, where she supported varied client engagements by leveraging data to create high-quality products while delivering pertinent insights. Her role enabled them to engage with our clients on their strategic vision and help shape their thinking. Corina has also held supply roles at innovative power and gas retailers, such as Bounce Energy and Continuum Energy. She is deeply passionate about energy and sustainability and advancing the agenda of gender balance in Energy.

 

 Andor Savelkouls, Senior Director, European Energy Advisory, Altenex Energy

As the Senior Director for the Energy Advisory business in Europe, Andor is responsible for developing and delivering energy solutions to clients in the region. He joined in 2020 to build and lead the company’s European practice in support of its international growth strategy and now he focuses on both the business development and operational aspects of the company’s consulting activities.

Andor started his career as a project development engineer at industrial gases supplier Air Products. Between 2008 to 2013, he held a variety of positions as energy manager in several European countries before being appointed regional procurement manager in 2014. As the head of the energy sourcing group for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Andor had direct responsibility for energy procurement and energy project development in these regions and managed the energy sourcing team in providing cost-effective energy supply schemes to the company’s business units.

Belén Gómez Abad, Director, Business Development, Altenex Energy

As Director of Business Development, Belén focuses on creating strong partnerships with commercial, industrial, and institutional organizations operating throughout Europe, specifically in consultation on large-scale renewable energy projects. Her core mission is to engage new prospects and drive relationships to implement an integrated energy and sustainability strategy.

Prior to joining Altenex Energy, Belén served in a similar position in energy procurement services. Her primary goal was to advise industrial clients on ways to purchase energy by applying tailored procurement strategies, energy contracting, risk management, and data management. She also helped facilitate company expansion to the U.S., Europe, and Central and South America, also assisting numerous corporates with their energy needs.
